About Our Food Program

Keeping it Local, Keeping it Whole…

Youth and Family Outreach is proud of our nutrition program. It is one that is mindful of our community's resources, set in sound nutrition, uses only whole ingredients and is good to our planet. In our newly re-designed production kitchen, Chef Dustin takes a from scratch, Slow Foods approach to cooking our mostly vegetarian meals, using whole ingredients. Currently about 75% of our food comes from New England farmers and producers. Check out a few of our sources:

  • Big Sky Bread Co

  • Native Maine

  • Mainely Poultry

  • Olivia’s Garden

  • Maine Grains

  • Cabot Creamery

  • King Arthur Flour

  • Goronson’s Farm

  • Wyman’s Blueberries

  • Frith Farm

  • Oakhurst Dairy

  • and many more!

About Our Menu

Each month the YFO Chef designs a menu filled with nutritious, creative, and culturally inspired entrees, sides, and snacks for the YFO school community. The menus reflect the Maine growing season, shifting each month as new foods come and go from our local sources. Each dish offers a healthy balance of produce, grains, and proteins featuring new and familiar ingredients presented that appeal to children and adults alike.
